At last year's trade deadline, the New York Yankees traded away a third baseman and acquired a different one.

They were supposed to solve what had been a brutal position for them. Instead, it hasn't worked.

Ryan McMahon has been brutal, and this week, the Yankees also got a reminder of the guy they sent away.

Oswald Peraza plays for the Los Angeles Angels now, and he had a great series at Yankee Stadium.

That included both a home run and a double off of Max Fried on Thursday in the series finale.

And here's this stat from The Athletic's Chris Kirschner that makes it quite depressing for the Yanks:

"Peraza has 5 hits this series. His replacement at third base, Ryan McMahon, has 5 hits this season."

That's pretty brutal no matter how you slice it.

McMahon has started to play less, as Amed Rosario has played more and the Yankees have moved some guys around.

Peraza may not keep it going like this, but the Yankees would take production like that for sure.

It's too late now. He's gone, and it's not working out in the Bronx.
