In Major League Baseball, some teams are dealing with injuries. There are teams dealing with injuries, and there are teams dealing with what the Toronto Blue Jays currently are.
Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, this is something we typically don't see. Toronto has been completely derailed by these injuries, and it will need to make a few moves if it wants to be the team it was expected to be entering the 2026 campaign.
Searching for ways for the Blue Jays to do that, they were recently linked to a very intriguing name, and someone that most fans might not know about just yet, but will if they continue to follow the game.
That's none other than right-hander Jose Soriano, who has been absolutely lights out with the Los Angeles Angels. Soriano has been absolutely incredible throughout the early stages of the season, posting a 0.33 ERA in 27.0 innings and striking out 31 hitters.
“Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jose Soriano is the best pitcher in baseball right now. He's allowed nine hits and one earned run over 27 innings and four starts. The Angels are 4-0 in games that Soriano starts, but 4-8 in the other 12 games. He's a true difference maker with the ability to be one of the best pitchers in the league this season. Obviously, a 0.33 ERA isn't sustainable, but he could be the ace of the Blue Jays staff if he's thrown on the trade block this season,” Zach Pressnell of SI wrote.
It's still early in the year, so it's fair to suggest that Soriano is obviously going to face some level of regression just due to how good he's been.
However, he owns a career 3.64 ERA in 38 appearances, so it isn't like he's been bad before this. His stuff is really good, and it would play in this Blue Jays rotation.
