The Nationals' offense caught fire once again and tied their season-high with six home runs on Friday night, more than enough to power Washington over the Arizona Diamondbacks, 14-1, in game one of the three game series.

Friday's win marked the tenth game the Nationals have scored at least ten runs this season.
Foster Griffin dazzled once again after moving to 7-2 this season, adding fuel to his National League Rookie of the Year campaign, after tossing four strikeouts and allowing just two hits over five innings.
The home run party kicked off right away for the Nationals after James Wood opened the game with a leadoff walk before Luis Garcia belted a 363 foot home run over the right field wall for what proved to be his first of two home runs on the night. Then Wood would open the third inning with a leadoff 419 foot home run for his 17th of the season, taking sole possession of the lead in the National League, before the Nationals got base runners on.

Jose Tena would single into center two at bats later before CJ Abrams drew a walk, setting up Daylen Lile with the RBI single to make it a 4-0 lead for Washington. After Lile stole second, he then became one of two runners to cross the plate after Jorbit Vivas kept it up with a double into right in the next at bat, powering an offense that was missing in the series sweep at home against the Marlins.
The Diamondbacks broke up the scoring drought in the third inning after Foster Griffin gave up a solo home run, marking his first hit allowed on the night, but that would be it before flaming the side to retire the fourth inning. Daylen Lile would then blast his first home run since May 15 to push the Nationals' lead to 7-1 with the bats staying hot into the sixth inning.
Three consecutive singles by Wood, Nasim Nunez and Drew Millas loaded the bases for Luis Garcia Jr. to blast his second home run of the night, a 427 foot shot to center, to secure his first career grand slam and second multi-home run game over the last month. The good news was it marked the first of two home runs in the inning after CJ Abrams blasted his 13th home run of the season two at bats later to put a stamp on the win.

Washington added another run in the eighth inning after Dylan Crews was hit by a pitch with the bases already loaded, while Jorbit Vivas drove in a second runner in as many opportunities after his single in the ninth inning cemented the 14-1 win.
The Nationals will look to get back over .500 and secure the road series win when the two teams meet on Saturday for a 4:10 PM first pitch.
